Vladimir Putin's Siberian tiger has 'strayed into China and eaten five chickens'
"A Siberian tiger released into the wild by Russian President Vladimir Putin is believed to be in trouble after it crossed the border into China and ate five chickens on a farm. It is feared that the rare big cat, named Kuzia, could now be targeted by angry farmers, the Associated Press reports."

White tiger incident to be part of medical journal
"The ghastly incident where a youth was mauled to death by a white tiger Vijay in his Delhi zoo enclosure in September will now be part of medical journals. The doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) who conducted an autopsy on Maqsood's body, consider it a unique case of death caused by a tiger which rarely comes for forensic examination."

Group of five detained in Kasa for trying to smuggle tiger skin, nails, into Mumbai
"Five men , found to be in possession of a tiger skin and two tiger nails, were detained in Kasa on Saturday. The material was seized from them.  The poachers, travelling towards Mumbai in a pickup truck, were nabbed at the Charoti toll naka. The y had procured the tiger skin from Jawhar area and were planning to gain a handsome amount by selling it in Mumbai. Kasa police have handed over the case to the Forest Department in Dahanu. "

Poacher menace shadow on tiger conservation
"There’s bad news for lovers of the majestic tiger, India’s national animal: Poachers are staying ahead of efforts to save the big cats. An analysis of 40 years of data shows that poachers, who kill the tiger for its skin and body parts, are moving to less-protected tiger habitats in south and central India, using trains to smuggle their booty out."

WII experts radio-collar tiger in Tadoba
"Wildlife Institute of India (WII) has initiated the exercise to radio collar three tigers in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) under the research project titled 'Long-term monitoring of tigers, co-predators and prey species in TATR and adjoining landscapes'. A tigress was radio collared by WII tiger scientists with the help of local forest authorities in the core zone of TATR on Saturday, sources said."

Fisherman killed by tiger in Sunderbans
"A 45-year-old fisherman, who was fishing in River Matla in the Sunderbans along with four of his mates, was killed by a tiger, a Forest official said today. Sisir Biswas, a resident of Jharkhali area in the Sunderbans, was catching fish along with his fellow fishermen in Herobhanga creek of the River Matla last evening when the tiger pounced on him from behind and dragged him inside the jungle, a forest officer said."

Conservation officials mull risky tiger release
"The country’s top wildlife conservation official has said a tiger release in to the Sundarbans had been planned despite criticism over such measures and the deaths of two similarly-released tigers in Bangladesh in 2005 and 2006."

Is the seized skin of a tiger from Nagzira reserve?
"Even as the Balaghat police arrested two persons from Lakhni and Sakoli in Bhandara and Gondia districts respectively with tiger skin on Friday evening, it is suspected the skin is of a tiger poached from Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR)."

Two arrested with tiger skin in Madhya Pradesh
"Madhya Pradesh police on Friday arrested two persons in Balaghat district with the skin of a tiger poached in naxal-infested Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra. They are being suspected to be part of an organised racket."
